How It Works

You bring the business. We'll work out the website.

You don't need to know the platform, hosting setup, page structure or technical terminology before you start.

Tell Leafline what the business does and what the website needs to accomplish. From there, the project is scoped, built, reviewed with you and launched.

Scope before build · Responsive design included · Managed care available after launch

01 — Start

Tell us what the business needs.

Start with the things you actually know: what the company does, whether this is a new website or redesign, what visitors should be able to find and what you want them to do.

If you already know the pages or functionality you need, include them. If you don't, leave that part open.

We may ask for:

  • Business name and contact information
  • New website or redesign
  • Existing website, if applicable
  • What the business does
  • Main website goals
  • Pages you already know you need
  • Functionality such as booking, ecommerce, forms or memberships
  • Existing logos, photos, copy or other assets
  • Desired launch timing

You do not need a finished sitemap before you contact Leafline.

02 — Scope

Turn the request into a project you can actually approve.

Before the build starts, Leafline works out what is being built and what is outside the standard page price.

The scope may cover:

  • Number of standard pages
  • Recommended page structure
  • Standard vs advanced functionality
  • Content and asset requirements
  • Third-party services where needed
  • Base website price
  • Additional scoped costs, if applicable
  • Managed Hosting & Care
  • Project-specific dependencies or limitations

Major scope questions should be settled before the build moves forward.

Standard page pricing runs through 15 pages. Larger or more complex projects are scoped separately.

03 — Build

Build around the approved scope.

Leafline develops the design and site structure around the approved brand direction, business goals, content and customer journey.

Standard build work may include:

  • Global visual system
  • Header and navigation
  • Footer
  • Page layouts
  • Responsive desktop, tablet and mobile implementation
  • Calls to action
  • Supplied or approved imagery
  • Standard forms where included in scope
  • Basic SEO implementation
  • Domain and launch preparation

Responsive design is part of the standard build. It is not sold as a separate mobile upgrade.

Advanced functionality follows the approved scope rather than being assumed from page count.

04 — Review

Check the website before customers see it.

You review the site for the things only the business can confirm: services, prices, contact details, claims, images and whether the site represents the company accurately.

Leafline handles technical and visual QA in parallel.

Client review should cover:

  • Business name and contact details
  • Services and descriptions
  • Prices or offers shown
  • Images and media
  • Calls to action
  • Links
  • Major functionality
  • Page content
  • Supplied factual claims

Leafline QA covers:

  • Navigation
  • Links and buttons
  • Responsive behaviour
  • Forms and interactions within scope
  • Layout consistency
  • Accessibility-conscious implementation
  • Content/image drift
  • Launch readiness

Technical QA cannot approve your business facts for you.

Changes to work already inside the approved scope can be handled during review. New pages, major new functionality or a materially different site structure are scope changes.

05 — Launch

Approve it. Connect it. Put it live.

Once the website is approved, Leafline completes the final launch checks and connects it to the appropriate domain and hosting environment.

Launch work may include:

  • Final QA
  • Domain connection assistance
  • Required DNS configuration
  • Publication
  • Final link and form checks
  • Indexability setup where applicable
  • Live responsive verification

Whenever practical, the business should own and control its own domain. Leafline may help configure it, but that does not make Leafline the domain owner.

Domain registration and renewal costs are separate unless an approved written scope says otherwise.

06 — Care

The site is live. Somebody still has to look after it.

Leafline-managed websites continue with Managed Hosting & Care after launch.

Standard care starts at $55 CAD/month. The final amount depends on the finished website and the level of ongoing complexity that has to be maintained.

Care may include:

  • Managed hosting
  • Investigation of ordinary site failures
  • Maintenance of approved Leafline functionality
  • Platform and configuration upkeep where applicable
  • Support for existing forms and integrations within scope
  • Reasonable backup/restore administration where supported
  • Ordinary hosting-related incident response

Managed Hosting & Care does not automatically include:

  • New pages
  • Major redesigns
  • New ecommerce systems
  • New integrations
  • New membership functionality
  • Ongoing content production
  • Unlimited redevelopment

Your Part

You know the business. We need the facts.

Leafline can build the website, but the business remains the authority on its own services, prices, policies, credentials and other factual information.

Clients should provide:

  • Accurate business information
  • Correct services and pricing
  • Contact information
  • Approved logos and brand materials
  • Existing images or content where available
  • Required policies or legally sensitive wording
  • Access or cooperation for domains and third-party services where necessary
  • Timely factual review and approval

Clients are responsible for having permission to use the materials they provide.

Leafline will not invent business facts to fill a page.

No Technical Homework

You do not need to solve the technology before you contact us.

You don't need to know which framework to use, how DNS works, what hosting architecture makes sense, which database technology belongs behind the site or exactly how the sitemap should be structured.

Those are implementation decisions.

Your job is to explain the business, the customer and the result the website should create. Leafline turns that into a workable site plan.

Start with the business. Build the website from there.

When the Project Changes

A revision changes the work. A scope change adds work.

Projects evolve. The important part is knowing when a request is still inside the approved project and when the project itself has changed.

Typical revisions:

  • Adjusting existing wording
  • Replacing an approved image
  • Refining spacing or layout
  • Changing an existing CTA
  • Rearranging content within an approved page

Typical scope changes:

  • Adding another page
  • Adding ecommerce or booking
  • Adding memberships or a portal
  • Connecting a new external system
  • Adding a database
  • Building a substantial new section
  • Major redesign after previous approval

A paid expansion can also change the website's ongoing Managed Hosting & Care if it materially increases the site's value or maintenance responsibility.

If the work changes, the scope should say so.
